Greyslater Presents: Valentine’s Day Gifts That Guys Won’t Hate

Posted on January 19, 2012 by Natalie Slater

Looking for the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for that special dude in your life? Here at Greyslater, we know what guys like. We know, because we’ve consulted our Panel of Dudes to find out. The Greyslater Panel of Dudes (POD) consists of a dad, a musician, a business guy and a skateboarder – you know, just to cover all the bases. The POD carefully inspects and tries out each product we offer, providing brutally honest feedback about whether or not guys will actually use them.

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, we turned to the POD to choose the guy-friendliest items we carry, with a little personal testimonial to go along with each pick.

“Cardboard” Ceramic Tray - Painstakingly handmade by Chicago artist Tim Kowalczyk, these fake-out cardboard trays are a favorite among the Panel of Dudes.

“At the end of the day I always empty all the change and other junk from my pockets onto my dresser. This tray looks really cool and keeps all my pocket junk in one place so my wife doesn’t yell at me about my mess.” – Tony Slater, Web Master at AWH Skateboard Distro and husband of Greyslater co-founder Natalie Slater.

No-bottle Shampoo Bars and Chicago Flag Soap – Guys love these vegan, organic products by Chicago-dude-founded Ethically Engineered.

“I play tennis a few times a week, and the shampoo bar makes it easy to take a shower at the gym. I like that it’s shaped like a gear, so it’s easy to hold on to, and it doesn’t smell like my wife should be using it. Plus the guys in the locker room think it looks cool.”- Gerald Kageff, Psychologist and Career Counselor

Made in the USA Reusable Water Bottles – Made in good ‘ol Yakima, Washington, Liberty Bottleworks manufactures the first and only US-made metal water bottle! Our POD loves the cool designs – from guy-friendly solid colors to urban-cool mass transit maps.

“As a singer and trumpet player, staying hydrated is a year-round priority.  Every day I fill up my Chicago bottle with some water from home and I’m good to go. From classes to concert stages, I’ve always got mine close by. I save money AND I’m not throwing away plastic water bottles.” - Matt Lewis, Musician

What do you think, guys? How'd we do?
